Shepherd's Purse Tincture
$30.00

Shepherd’s pure gets its’ name from it’s seed pods that are shaped like purses. It can be found all over the world and is what many herbalist would call a medicinal weed. (I’m learning there are so many “weeds” with medicinal properties)

Shepherd’s purse is used to stop bleeding of all kinds (even nosebleeds) and is one of the reason’s many midwives utilize this herb in the event of postpartum hemorrhaging. It is an astringent and is often used to prevent the loss of excess fluid. (For bleeding and debilitating fevers)

It is also a tonic herb that strengthens organs, tissues and processes of the body as well as overall health. It is useful for general weakness, debility, neurasthenia, sluggish digestion, coldness, fatigue, and depression. It can also speed up the healing of wounds and was used as a first aid herb.

Shepherd’s purse is also a diuretic and stimulates the body to urinate. Shepherd’s Purse has been an important stimulant and diuretic herb for use in kidney complaints and dropsy, or water retention in the body.

When using Shepherd’s purse for hemorrhaging it is important to remember Michael Moore’s recommendation not to give the tea or tincture too early during labor. Wait, at least, until fully dilated, or urge Mom to sip the tea as she holds her new baby upon delivery. (If it is used to early in labor it can cause blood clots that may be hard for the mother to pass)

It should not be used throughout pregnancy as it can cause miscarriage. If you are using shepherd’s purse during pregnancy, labor, or delivery it would be wise to work with someone qualified to assist you. (Herbalist, midwife, healthcare practitioner etc)

Excessive doses of Shepherd’s purse can cause heart palpations.
